Ways to change your perspective to enhance self-care

Perspective is key to unlocking positive energy into your life. Changing our thought processes and creating a new habitual way of thinking helps to influence behavior. Thus, allowing us to take action when it comes to our well-being.

Here are some ways to create a positive perspective in your daily living.

1. You are worth it.

Knowing your self-worth is important. Our worth should never be influenced by what others feel, say, or rate it to be. Taking control of your worth is not allowing others to define it. You are the boss of your life, you are in control.

2. Being “too busy” is not a thing.

If you made time out of your day to get dressed, drink coffee, care for others, meet productivity at work, study new material, maintenance the house, grab a bite to eat, and shop for those essentials, then yes you can make time for yourself. How?

During your activities of daily living [like brushing your teeth and hair or washing your face and body], you are already caring for yourself you just have not brought your awareness to it. Taking your mind away from the stress, thinking of future scenarios, planning and worrying to simply reflect on the present moment or embracing the feeling of being refreshed is one simple way to incorporate time for self-care.

Additionally, finding other small moments like sipping on iced water with cucumbers or infused fruit, taking three deep breaths periodically, or listening to a mood boosting music in the car are other ways to find time to self-appreciate and care for your well-being. Doing all of these things with the intention that you are caring for yourself are ways to boost self-love in a busy routine.

3. Know your motivation

Knowing and understanding your “why” [your purpose] will help you to keep your positive thoughts on track throughout your day. And, keep you moving forward with an attitude that helps to prioritize your mental and physical health. Be motivated always, and know that our motivations and passions are forever evolving and changing.

4. Find moments of gratitude throughout your day, everyday.

I am a firm believer that having gratitude helps to enhance our personal well-being. I have also previously written about how gratitude is a force for helping us to achieve personal wellness goals. Giving thanks towards someone, some place, or something helps to deepen our appreciation for daily living. Having a greater sense of appreciation, ultimately will allow us to have a greater perspective especially when it comes to how we care for our well-being.

Perspective is not only what guides our actions, but is how we adapt and adjust to the events in our lives. With a more positive perspective, we are able make transitions without comprising our abilty to participate in daily self-care and achieve well-being.
