Don’t find your balance…create it.

Stress seems to be the common denominator for many young, older, and somewhere in the middle adults trying to balance their daily routine, whether it be a busy work schedule, the joys of parenting, or simply trying to transition from one stage of life to the next. Our automatic nervous system thrives off the stress we hold on to. Which is why I believe “finding” balance is simply not as efficient as creating it ourselves.

When we search for balance, we most of the time end up waiting or pushing off the implementation of stress relief in our lives. Then, forgetting about the reason why we began searching for a balance to begin with. [Kinda, literally…as stress may cloud our thinking processes.] So, how does one create balance?

While, I acknowledge that “creating a balance” is easier said then done. I can attest to the idea that by incorporating meaningful tasks into your daily routine, it becomes much easier to establish healthy habits and create a functional routine. For instance, simple tasks that I value and appreciate as they have helped to increase my present awareness, includes hugging my significant other with a bear-size squeeze, washing my face, making a wholesome breakfast every morning, watching the sun rise, taking 2-3 deep breaths once every hour at work, driving with the windows slightly down, and stretching before bed. During each of these tasks, I am fully dedicated to the present and let go of all worries that linger on my mind to savor what is right in front me. This is my balance, which I believe continues to evolve as I grow.

So, as you create your own balance first reflect on the simple tasks that are meaningful to you…Most likely, you are already doing the tasks in your daily routine. In which, all you have to do is simply soak in the present moment instead of letting your mind wonder. Be proactive when it comes to the stressors in your life by staying inspired, enriching your mind, and fueling your soul with motivation to enjoy all life has to offer. The moment you begin creating balance is the moment you can give more of yourself (more love, kimdness, laughter, and joy) to the world without feeling consumed.
